The post office (including telegraph and telephone services) is administered by Switzerland. Liechtenstein, however, issues its own postage stamps. The number of telephones in 2005 was about 20,000. The Swiss dial system extends to the principality. Direct-dialing is used throughout the country and includes international service. Telegraph service is efficient. As of 2001, there were one state and one private television station broadcast, along with a private radio station. Residents also receive radio and television broadcasts from neighbouring countries. In 1997 there were 21,000 radios and 12,000 television sets in the country. In 2000, there were 44 internet service providers serving users in both Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
